The Course

The Lake Macbride Fat Tire Classic is a Fat Bike Event like no other.  Presented by Sugar Bottom Bikes and The Solon Centennial Lions Club, the Race will take you around scenic Lake Macbride on twisty pea gravel, flowing singletrack, scenic beaches, blazing fast double track, hilly and steep snowmobile trails, challenging hiking trails, and scenic gravel roads.  For those looking for a more casual experience, the 10 Mile Fat Fun Ride may be for you.  Many of the trails in the Tace are not permitted for bikes EXCEPT on race day, so this is your only chance to ride them!  The fast end of the 30 mile race has finished at around 2 hours with the back end of the race taking as long as 5 1/2 hours.  As always, for 2024 we will have a new but equally challenging course for ya'll.  Expect a lot of the same stuff you've seen in years past with some added surprises of course!

More Info

Timing/Awards:

The race will be manually timed by volunteers so please be patient with us.  When crossing the finish line please STOP to verify your number and finishing time with the timers.  Unlike previous years, there will be timing and a finish line crew waiting for all racers, even those finishing after the awards have started/finished.  Awards will take place in the Lake Macbride Golf Course Club House at 2PM or 5 hours after the start time of the Full Classic Race.  Racers receiving awards and prizes will be expected to be present for podium ceremony in order to collect their awards and prizes.  In the event that epic conditions could cause longer ride times, we will push back the ending time of scoring and the awards as we see necessary.

Course Markings

&  Navigation:

We will be marking both the ride and race course with big arrows and course tape but GPS Computer Navigation is absolutely recommended.  For 2024 we will attempt to mark the course even better than previous years, but we cannot be held responsible for people who choose not to use GPS Navigation.  Markings can get knocked down by riders and wind or stolen and switched by mischievous kids.  GPS Navigation has become extremely easy to use and extremely reliable and we are confident everyone should be able to access and use this technology.  If you have any questions please feel free to ask us or stop in to your local bike shop for guidance.

COURSE FILES WILL BE AVAILABLE 1 WEEK BEFORE RACE DAY!

Postponment/ Rescheduling

In order to present the safest and most fun event possible, we will reserve the right to move the start of the race forward or back 1 hour in order to achieve more favorable conditions.  In addition to this we will reserve the right to postpone the race to Sunday the 11th, with a backup date of Saturday Feb. 17th.  We also have the potential to present a heavily modified course in order to hold the event on trails that are not affected as much by adverse weather/temperature conditions.  Two of the most likely situations that would cause event changes would be excessive mud and/or active rain or blizzard type situations.  In the event of heavy snowfall the night/morning before the race we would not have enough time to properly groom the course and a 1 day delay could be necessary.  *Unfortunately in the event of total cancellation of the event we will not be able to offer refunds.

Race and Ride for a Cause!  All event proceeds will be used for charitable causes by the Solon Centennial Lion's Club.
